0 to 12 months (Infants)

The purpose of our Infant Program is to nurture your child’s essential needs in a safe, healthy, and loving environment. Infants will be carefully supervised through a thorough regimen of body care, feeding, resting, and sleeping. Their social skills will be developed through a variety of playful learning experiences, allowing them to explore creativity and imagination by interacting with toys and other children.

In the infant room, children have the opportunity to explore and learn in a safe and stimulating environment. Weekly activities are thoughtfully planned to match your child’s interests and to encourage exploration, learning, and independence. Bottle feeding and solid foods are provided, and each child has their own crib or mat to ensure restful and comfortable sleep during scheduled nap times.

We also use two six-seater strollers for daily walks around the building, offering fresh air and new experiences. Our dedicated staff maintain strict cleanliness, change diapers regularly, and closely monitor all infants.

Parents receive daily reports detailing their child’s day, including meals, nap times, and other important updates to keep you connected and informed.

13 months to 18 months (Infants)

Our bright and spacious room provides your little one with a safe, stimulating environment filled with fun activities and age-appropriate toys. Our daily routine and weekly schedule are designed to support each child’s individual needs and development.

Outdoor play is a vital part of our daily routine. We have a beautiful playground where children can enjoy fresh air and physical activity throughout the day. Additionally, we use two six-seater strollers for walks around the building, giving children opportunities to explore their surroundings.

Parents can expect open and consistent communication from our teachers, who provide daily updates on your child’s eating, sleeping, and toileting habits to keep you fully informed.

Our routine includes a variety of activities to promote child development, such as gross motor skill building, STEM exploration, multicultural awareness, outdoor play, and much more.

19 months to 36 months (Toddlers)

Our Toddler Program is designed to support children in having a healthy and smooth transition from home to preschool. Basic routines and social skills are developed through a variety of engaging learning experiences. Toddlers are encouraged to explore their creativity and imagination through play and visual arts.

In the toddler room, children have the opportunity to explore and learn in a safe, stimulating environment. Weekly activities are thoughtfully planned to meet each child’s interests and to foster exploration, learning, and independence. Child-sized furniture allows your toddler to develop self-help skills such as eating independently. Breakfast and hot lunches are provided daily, and each child has their own cot for scheduled rest times.

Our caring staff guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and personal hygiene skills.

As communication becomes increasingly important at this age, toddlers are encouraged to build language skills through songs, stories, and games, helping to expand vocabulary and expressive language. Interactive “circle time” promotes participation and social interaction. Sensory exploration is a key component, with activities like sand and water play. Age-appropriate educational toys introduce toddlers to concepts such as colors, shapes, numbers, and sizes.

Outdoor play includes a playground with age-appropriate structures (slides, ropes, stairs), riding toys like bicycles and cars, balls, and a sandbox for sensory and physical development.

Parents receive daily reports on their child’s day, including meals, nap length, and other important updates to keep you connected.

3 Years to 4.5 Years (Pre-School)

This program is designed for children transitioning from toddlerhood to school-age. It offers more group time and more elaborate creative activities to support the next stage of your child’s development, building on the toddler curriculum with a focus on language, arts, math, science, and movement.

At the end of each week, parents will find a general overview of their child’s activities and accomplishments in their cubby, along with worksheets to support further learning at home.

At Ambleside Daycare & After School Care, preschoolers are offered a variety of play and planned activities within a stimulating environment. Learning centres are available throughout the day, allowing children to choose activities that promote skill-building, such as:

  • Science/Sensory Centre: Exploring, predicting, and problem-solving
  • Creative Arts Centre: Using various art techniques like cutting, painting, drawing, and gluing
  • Spatial Awareness: Learning concepts such as on, under, and near, reinforcing knowledge of shapes, colors, and sizes
  • Dramatic Centre: Role-playing everyday adult scenarios like visiting the doctor, family activities, and grocery shopping

Weekly planned activities are posted and cover different themes. Children learn important concepts such as numbers, letters, shapes, colors, sequencing, and patterning. They are encouraged to recognize, name, and trace numbers and letters. Interactive “circle time” fosters expressive language development through songs, stories, and games.

Preschoolers enjoy a playground with age-appropriate structures for physical activity. Nutritious  breakfast and hot lunches are provided daily, and a scheduled sleep/rest time or quiet activities are offered to recharge.

Parents receive weekly reports detailing their child’s activities and learning progress to keep you informed and involved.

4.5 years to 6 years (Kindergarten)

This program focuses on developing child’s academic skills through a variety of engaging activities. Using both group and individual projects, children will expand their abilities in mathematics, science, social skills, music, visual arts, drama, and language. Through daily routines, Ambleside Daycare and After School Care staff guide children in applying these skills to reading, writing, and basic mathematics.

Children can choose from a range of play options in the learning centres—such as science/sensory, creative arts, books, and dramatic play—alongside an academically oriented curriculum. Our weekly program plans include activities designed to develop writing, reading, and math skills. These include recognizing and printing uppercase and lowercase letters, writing words and short sentences, counting and printing numbers up to 100, and learning addition and subtraction—all aimed at preparing children for first grade.

Children also learn basic vocabulary, colors, numbers, shapes, days of the week, months of the year, simple phrases, songs, and games to support language development.

The kindergarten program features an outdoor playground with age-appropriate structures and various games. Weather permitting, outdoor activities are scheduled twice daily—in the morning and afternoon. Breakfast and snacks are provided, and quiet activities are offered each day for rest and focus.

At the end of each week, parents receive an overview of their child’s activities and accomplishments in their cubby.

Additionally, children participate in a “Group Reading” program, where they learn to recognize sight words, forming a strong foundation for reading and writing skills.

6 years to 12 years (Out of School Care)

This program focuses on developing your child’s academic skills through a variety of engaging group and individual activities. Children will expand their abilities in mathematics, science, social skills, music, visual arts, drama, and language. Our dedicated staff at Ambleside Daycare and After School Care support children in applying these skills to reading, writing, and basic mathematics through daily routines.

Children have access to multiple learning centres—including science/sensory, creative arts, books, and a dramatic play centre—alongside a structured academic curriculum. Weekly program plans include activities that encourage development in writing (sentences and paragraphs), reading, and math skills, as well as educational games designed to support their progress in elementary school.

Physical activity is a key component of the after-school program. Children enjoy outdoor play and various games on our playground, with weather permitting outdoor activities scheduled once daily.

Healthy snacks are provided each day, and quiet activities are offered to balance active play and focus.

At the end of each week, parents receive a summary of their child’s activities and accomplishments. Additionally, children participate in a “Group Reading” program aimed at strengthening their reading and writing skills.
